GUIDANCE - LATERAL FLOW TESTS
IN-ACADEMY LATERAL FLOW TESTING
FROM SEPTEMBER 2021
The DfE have announced that schools will offer lateral flow testing to students at the start of the new Autumn Term. As your child is due to join us in September we ask that you complete this form as soon as possible.
Please be reassured that our staff involved in the testing have all completed the relevant NHS training and are well practised in making the process both safe and efficient.
You can withdraw your consent at any time and we will never insist a child completes the test if they do not wish to on the day.
If you have any questions regarding any of the above, contact the Academy via firstname.lastname@example.org or 0191 2958660.
If you have any concerns about the use of your personal information, you can make a complaint to us at email@example.com.
A new type of LFT tests have been provided to use at education mass-testing sites - Orient Gene LFT
This Orient Gene involves a double nose swab (no longer a nose and throat swab) and has been approved for use for all Secondary aged students.
Schools have been advised that for existing students, permissions already received can remain; however, you can withdraw your consent at any time through contacting the Academy.

The NHS provided guidance when mass testing began in schools last year. This has not been updated as of yet and so we will adhere to the same permissions. Should any updates become available we will publish these on our Academy website.

Students are continuing to receive their Lateral Flow Testing kits from the Academy. These will be the original nose and throat swab LFTs. We ask students to test themselves twice a week.
Results should be logged with NHS Track and Trace at https://www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
Parents can obtain free LFTs for themselves/bubbles via https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
These tests are not a replacement for the PCR tests. They help to identify those students who may have a high viral load but are not displaying symptoms.
If your child develops symptoms THEY MUST book a PCR test - https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test .
If your child receives a positive Lateral Flow Test (LFT) result, they must book a PCR test and isolate until they receive a negative result - https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test .
If they subsequent PCR test is positive, your child and household must isolate in-line with government guidelines.
Please inform the Academy of any positive results (LTF and PCR). You do not need to inform the Academy of any negative results.
